Shotski's Alpine Lodge/Nightingale – General Manager
Guests of Shotski's Alpine Lodge will experience a cozy winter retreat, right in Downtown SF, brought to you by the Future Bars Group. This exciting new venue will take over the Nightingale Bar location, recently renowned as the pop-up Merriest Bar. Friends will gather and enjoy evenings that capture the essence of a ski getaway, minus the cold. As summer approaches, Shotski's will transform into a picturesque lakeside hunting cabin.
Initially, Shotski's will offer a vibrant indoor/outdoor atmosphere featuring warming cocktails, icy shots, amusements, energetic DJs, and live bands—all while showing sports on TV. It will be the perfect place to celebrate the day’s adventures and embrace the ambiance of the mountains.
We are looking for someone with prior managerial experience in a busy bar, hotel, or restaurant, but other work histories may be considered with appropriate managerial experience. This position will require working regular bartending shifts on weekends as well as a daytime admin schedule. Working evenings and weekends is required, the standard work week is Tuesday through Saturday.
Responsibilities
- Maintain inventory controls
- Create cocktail menus under the direction of the Beverage Director
- Determine employees’ schedules and manage labor costs
- Ensure bar is well-stocked and clean
- Track customer behavior and sales
- Maintain budget and monitor beverage costs
- Oversee planning for special events
- Liaise with the events team
- Appropriately delegate tasks to staff
- Purchase liquor and other supplies
- Oversee staff, including bartenders and barbacks
- Work bartending shifts as needed
- Hire, train, promote, and, when necessary, discipline staff
- Provide input on décor and marketing, including social media and other forms of publicity
Qualifications
- Prior bar management experience at least 1 year
- Record of critical thinking skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Customer service focus
- Knowledge of food, beverage, and hospitality industries
- Calm under pressure
- Familiarity with Craftable and Square for Restaurants is nice but not required
- Some bartending experience is required
- Degree in business, management, hospitality, or equivalent is a plus
