Job Description
The Future Bars Group is seeking a Sales Event Manager to run our growing private event business across our entire portfolio. We’re the leading bar group in the San Francisco Bay Area, with 14 bar locations in San Francisco and Berkeley.
The Event Sales Manager owns private event and group sales across all 14 locations. This is a revenue-generating, client-facing role: you’ll prospect and close new business, manage an active sales pipeline, negotiate contracts, manage catering partnerships, assist with on-site execution, and partner with each venue’s General Manager and staff to ensure every booked event is flawlessly executed. You’ll also work with our executive team (CEO, COO) to build the systems, pricing, and packages to make event sales scalable across our growing portfolio of bars.
The Event Sales Manager will report to the CEO and COO. This role is full-time, exempt, hybrid/flexible, based at our headquarters in the financial district of San Francisco.
Responsibilities:
- Own the full sales cycle for private events across 14 venues, from lead generation and inbound inquiries through proposal, contract, deposit, signed booking, and BEO.
- Build and manage a pipeline of corporate, social, and private clients (holiday parties, birthdays, corporate happy hours, fundraisers, and full buyouts).
- Develop and maintain event packages, pricing tiers, small and large group, hosted and non-hosted tabs, and minimums tailored to each venue’s capacity, layout, and brand.
- Conduct site visits and walkthroughs, matching client needs to the right venue.
- Negotiate and finalize contracts, BEOs, and cancellation terms in line with company policies.
- Build network of preferred caterers.
- Partner closely with General Managers, event staff, and catering teams at each location to hand off confirmed bookings and ensure smooth day-of execution.
- Track pipeline, bookings, and revenue in a CRM; report on sales performance, conversion rates, and forecasted revenue by venue.
- Build outbound relationships with corporate accounts, event planners, office managers, and local organizations to drive repeat and referral business.
- Manage seasonal push periods (holiday parties, major Moscone conventions) with dedicated campaigns and proactive outreach.
- Work with operations team to ensure that training resources remain current and effective.
- Collaborate with marketing on event-specific promotions, venue collateral, and the events page of the websites.
- Monitor competitor venues and market pricing to keep packages competitive across neighborhoods.
Qualifications:
- 2-3+ years of experience in event sales, catering sales, or venue sales, ideally across multiple locations in hospitality
- A 4-year college degree
- Demonstrated extreme attention to detail
- Proven track-record of hitting or exceeding sales targets
- Experience negotiating and administering vendor or commission-based partnerships.
- Polished, professional, and detail-oriented written and verbal communication
- Working knowledge of event contracts, deposits, beverage minimums, and cancellation policies
- Experience with CRM tools like Tripleseat, Perfect Venue, or similar is a plus but not required.
- Experience with Square for Restaurants a plus, but not required
- Availability and willingness to travel regularly to venues for site visits, client meetings, and events on evenings and weekends
